Jeremy Lin news: Returning to New York?

The Jeremy Lin sweepstakes has started, and now the race for the services of the Asian-American point guard is out. Who could likely end up with him?

Lin has gained some interest from multiple teams prior to the NBA Free Agency period. That list includes the Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks, Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets, Denver Nuggets, Indiana Pacers, Phoenix Suns and the New York Knicks.

But if he had his way, Lin wants to play for a team he is comfortable with, in a place he can call home.

The place where Lin obviously felt this was in New York, back in the 2011-12 NBA season. That was the year Linsanity broke out which everyone perhaps knows by now was a reason why Lin became a sensation.

That led to his humongous contract worth $25,123938 with the Houston Rockets the following year. However, things just haven't been the same ever since Lin started moving. Though he did get the chance to show his wares with Houston and later, the (Los Angeles) Lakers, Lin simply struggled.

It was believed there was a big chance that Lin could reunite with former coach Mike D' Antoni in Denver if the latter would get the head coaching job. But the Nuggets chose to go with former Sacramento Kings coach Michael Malone.

With that out of the picture, could Lin consider a return to New York? The Knicks have reportedly reached out to the Harvard University standout.

Lin's coming will be welcome news to the people of Gotham, but the fact remains that his return is no assurance that the Knicks will be back on track.

The Knicks have yet to fill up the team's manpower requirements. For now, the only sure players in the mix are Carmelo Anthony and rookie Kristaps Porzingis.

The Knicks will be trying to woo in some free agents like Greg Monroe, Arron Afflalo and LaMarcus Aldridge, and it has yet to be known how things will turn out. Of the three, the Knicks have a strong chance of landing Monroe and Afflalo, though all remains unofficial.
