NBA star Jeremy Lin, who is currently a free agent, is kicking off his annual tour of Asia by asking his fans to pray for him and for the people he wishes to bring closer to God.

The Christian point guard sent the prayer request through e-mail on Saturday, according to The Christian Post. "I'm in Asia for my Asia tour and tonight I have, what I consider, possibly the most important event of the trip," he says.

"Please pray for me to speak with love, to be empowered by Christ and for everyone who listens to have a soft heart to hear God's love and respond by giving their lives to Him."

Lin flew to Taiwan last week, where he had a series of special events lined up. He started by coaching a basketball camp in Kaohsiung on Saturday and Sunday, with a Christian gathering in the city on Saturday, reported Focus Taiwan. During the the gathering, Lin shared his personal experience as a Christian in the U.S. and the NBA.

He then travelled to Taipei from June 13 to 16 to host a charity event, a seminar, a fan meet-and-greet, plus two promotional events. After this, he headed to China on June 17.

Lin's status in the NBA was a topic of great interest while he was in Taiwan, but the athlete refused to divulge whether he will stay with the Charlotte Hornets or possibly move to the Chicago Bulls.

"Everyone knows that I'm a free agent. The most important thing for me is that I want to be happy," he says.

Lin shared that he is going to determine whether he will fit in with his new team's style of play or get along with his coach. He also wants to check whether his new teammates are going to be "humble."

"And of course, it will depend on whether I am a starter and how much playing time I get," he adds. "I will take all that into consideration."
