iPhone 6C release date nears? Leaked images show shell for 4-inch iPhone 6

The world might see a smaller version of the iPhone 6 soon, if recently leaked photos of a housing turn out to be authentic. Tech site 9to5Mac spotted several images posted by Future Supplier, claiming that the housing is meant for the alleged iPhone 6c.

At first glance, the housing seems like the one used in the last-generation iPhone models, such as the iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, and iPhone 5s. But upon closer inspection, several glaring differences can be noticed.

One of the most obvious differences is the shape of the rear camera flash hole. The one featured in the housing for iPhone 5c has a small, circular shape. The one seen in the alleged iPhone 6c housing has an oval shape, just like the one seen in the iPhone 5s.

Then the second obvious difference between the alleged new iPhone housing and the old one are the loud speaker holes located at the bottom. The old one only has a single hole for speakers, while the new one has two.

The housing also has a camera bump, which is not featured in the housing for the last-generation device. It means that the lens opening has a flush appearance compared to the entire shell.

However, there are no guarantees that the images are the real deal.

At this point, it is too early to tell if the rumored specs and design of the alleged 4-inch display version are true. Business Insider also claims that if the photos do turn out to be real, it could still be replaced by another one by the time the Cupertino company releases the product sometime this fall.

The 4-inch iPhone 6c will reportedly be Apple Inc's response to the clamor of the consumers to come up with a smaller version of the bestselling iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus product lines.
