Love and war will be the central themes of the "Grimm" season 5 finale. The two-part season-ender doubles down on evils and mayhem as Nick fights hard to protect the people he loves.

Executive producer James Kouf promised in an interview with TV Line that the finale titled "The Beginning of the End" has "non-stop action" for meat and, as longtime fans would expect, a cliffhanger for an ending.

In the "Grimm" season finale, Nick will be dealing with various forces attacking him from all sides. The episode's synopsis teases the detective will be waging war against the Black Claw after the group draws the last straw and turns its attention to Hank.

The killer organization has decided to deploy a "strategic move" that will have everyone shaken. Because of this, Nick springs into action without thinking twice.

As expected, this is just a tip of the massive "Grimm" season 5 finale iceberg. The episode also promises to follow Nick as he makes his best attempts to get his son out of harm's way with threats all around them.

"He's presented with certain circumstances, which he has to be careful how he reacts to, because his son's life could be at stake," executive producer James Kouf says.

To make matters worse, the "Grimm" season 5 finale is also set to unleash another potential threat that has been brewing for a while now. Adalind and Renard will be the most disturbed about this problem.

"Diana's a little girl with a lot of power who's learning how to yield it, and she hasn't had a great moral compass yet," Kouf said. Hopefully, Wu will be able to master his new abilities in time to help Nick get it all under control.

The "Grimm" season 5 finale is also expected to touch on the romantic aspect of Nick's life. Outside forces trying to burn Portland to the ground is one thing, but the matters of the heart are another and probably more distracting.

Rumor has it that "Grimm" season 5 finale will foreshadow a possible love triangle among Adalind, Nick and Eve.

During an interview with Collider, Bitsie Tulloch who plays Eve admitted that she would be "shocked if they don't play with" the possible resurgence of her character's feelings for Nick.

The "Grimm" season 5 finale airs May 20 at 9 p.m. ET on NBC. The show returns on May 13 with an episode titled "Bad Night."
