Grey's Anatomy season 11 premiere date, spoilers: Show to welcome new doctors after Cristina Yang exit

Although Cristina Yang will be leaving Grey Sloan Memorial hospital, new doctors are expected for Grey's Anatomy season 11.

In a recent Facebook post, the official Grey's Anatomy page teased fans on the upcoming season with a photo of Grey's doctors celebrating with glasses of champagne. The photo is captioned: "Is there a doctor in the house? There will be several when Grey's Anatomy returns with an all NEW season this fall!"

However, many fans took to express their sadness to see the departure of Cristina Yang, with many stating that the show "won't be the same without Yang."

Oh has starred in all ten seasons of the medical drama, going back all the way to season 1.

Tonight's finale episode will bid farewell to Sandra Oh's Cristina Yang character.

The title of the finale titled "Fear (of the Unknown" and the synopsis is as follows: "In the 10th season finale, Cristina's coworkers give her a fond send-off. Meanwhile, a possible terrorist act occurs in Seattle and leads to pandemonium at the hospital; Meredith makes a life-altering choice; and a doctor gets alarming news."

Although Oh is departing from the show, Ellen Pompeo, who plays her on-screen best friend, has signed up for at least two more seasons.

Grey's Anatomy season 11 is likely to be split into two, like season 10. It will also air during the 8 p.m. timeslot, rather than 9 p.m.

ABC president Paul Lee announced that the show will have a split-season. "We're going to be doing split seasons on most of our shows this year," he told reporters. This means that season 100 will run in two nonstop runs of 12-episodes. Premiering this fall, the mid-season finale will air in December, and return in February 2015.
