While players continue to be overwhelmed with the numerous updates and patches as well as new content that Rockstar Games churn out for "Grand Theft Auto V," some hardcore fans can't help but ask when the successor to the franchise will come out.

While the developer has yet to reveal confirmation and other details about the much-rumored "Grand Theft Auto VI," speculations are already floating online. The latest rumors suggest that Rockstar Games may well be planning for the upcoming installment to be one of the launching titles for the PlayStation 5.

According to NeuroGadget, if the pattern for the most recent releases of the franchise is to be followed, it would be more than likely that Rockstar Games is developing "Grand Theft Auto VI" as a carrying title for next-gen game systems.

The industry follower argued that when "GTA V" was launched in 2013, it was made available for the PS3 and Xbox 360. Meanwhile, instead of coming out with a successor when the PS4 and Xbox One became the current systems in 2014, Rockstar Games instead chose to port an improved version to the new systems and then added a PC version last year.

While it might be high time for Rockstar Games to already come out with a sequel to the "Grand Theft Auto" franchise, the developer has been waiting for confirmed details about the next-gen console systems, particularly for the PS5. Having "Grand Theft Auto VI" as a launching title for upcoming consoles would be a big plus for the game.

In addition, Rocktar Games might also be thinking that the next-gen consoles' specs would smoothly handle "GTA VI." According to rumors, the developer is thinking of something grand for the next installment. Different speculations about "Grand Theft Auto VI" range from Hollywood A-listers like Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling voicing for the lead actors in the next title, to all-new protagonists featuring a first-ever female lead for the franchise.

In addition, it is said that "GTA VI" will feature a massive map, with all previous locations featured in past "GTA" titles available for exploration both in single-story missions and online multiplayer.
