Black Widow movie: Robert Downey Jr. says Scarlett Johansson should have solo spin-off film

The Black Widow plays a major role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and many are wondering why Scarlett Johansson's character isn't getting her solo movie yet. Well, she might just be.

The Black Widow first helped Tony Stark to become closer to The Avengers in "Iron Man 2" and then fans saw her fight for mankind in "The Avengers." Her next big role was to fight alongside Captain Steve Rogers in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," and then she will be fighting the robot Ultron in "Avengers: Age of Ultron."

Being part of Marvel's major movies prove that Natasha Romanov is an important piece of the superhero puzzle. But does this mean that The Black Widow can carry her own solo movie? Robert Downey Jr. believes so.

USA Today interviewed Downey and ask him if Marvel should make a Black Widow film or not. He replied "Doesn't Scarlett deserve a break? It just seems like whatever Scarlett does people want to go see it."

But Downey doesn't think that only The Black Widow should have her own solo film.  The other members of The Avengers should, too.

"The funny thing is honestly at this point everyone deserves a franchise. I think Jeremy Renner is — when folks see the 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' he's just a rockstar, a bada–. And Ruffalo is pumped. He does great [work]. I'd like to hear them talk even more seriously about a 'Hulk' franchise, because that's been one of the toughest ones to get right. But I'm sure that my parent company is feeling expansive and bold after the summer they've had," Downey said.

Fans of Johansson have been rooting for a solo Black Widow movie and according to MTV, even colleague Jessica Chastain wants the movie to happen. Johansson was seen in her latest action movie "Lucy" where she proved how she can carry her own action movie with success.

Meanwhile, while Johansson is busy with her pregnancy and shooting scenes for the next Avengers movie, fans can just wait for "Avengers: Age of Ultron" to hit theaters on May 1, 2015. And maybe after that, The Black Widow movie will be considered.
