Someone asked Ben Seewald of 19 Kids and Counting how they should start reading the Bible, and if it's like a regular book where they have to start from the very beginning in order to understand its contents.

Seewald, the husband of Jessa Duggar, answered on his Facebook page that the Bible is actually a collection of books, with 66 in total, and the first book Genesis tells the history of man, how God created and blessed man, how man rebelled, and what happened after his rebellion.

Genesis is also about God's mercy and His promise to send a Saviour to redeem mankind from sin.

"If you look closely enough, you will see the books of the Bible tell this story, of sin, justice, and redemption. The books Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John are climactic as they tell us of the Saviour Himself, the God-Man, Jesus Christ, who walked this earth, lived a perfect life, and yet willingly died the sinners' death, to make salvation possible for those who didn't deserve it," noted Seewald.

The young newlywed suggested that people start with Genesis and Exodus, then go on reading John, Acts, Romans, and Ephesians.

The books of John, Romans, and Ephesians tell the story of salvation and share how people can be saved, he said.

But Seewald also said that people would gain the most from reading the whole Bible from start to finish, and he recommended they use audio Bible apps if they are the kind of people who prefer to listen than read.

Seewald stressed that it is important for people to read and study the Bible with prayer, and ask God to show Himself through His Word.

"Take your time though, and pause to consider things that really stick out to you. Ask God for help and guidance in all of this," he urged.
