'Angry Birds 2' player tips

Rovio website

Rovio has just published the sequel to one of the smash hits in mobile gaming, "Angry Birds." Although the recently-released title on Android and iOS is already the thirteenth title under the franchise, the developer said that "Angry Birds 2" is only the second direct sequel to the original title.

Much like the previous game releases before it, "Angry Birds 2" again pits the angry birds and green pigs against each other, with the birds trying to exact revenge for their stolen eggs. However, the gameplay is updated and although the game is a free download, fans can make use of in-game purchases to enhance their playing experience.

For those who wish to play "Angry Birds 2" without relying too much on the purchases, there are tips and tricks to playing and completing the title.

Free lives

The new title makes use of bird cards per level, and once the cards are used and the number of lives are consumed, players must wait to fill up their lives again. However, instead of paying for gems or waiting at least half an hour, players can trick the app into giving lives immediately by setting the device's clock ahead.

Check each special skill

The birds in the second installment still retain their special skills with the second tap. Playing through the tutorial may help players familiarize themselves with each bird, to know which ones are best suited for the level.

Check out daily quests

Completing daily quests unlock free items and upgrades. In addition, watching videos on the continuing saga of the game also net players free rewards.

Aside from the free items, daily quests are also a great way to familiarize the player with different settings for hard-to-reach levels, or how birds can easily be used for the different blocks. However, when a player fails to get the desired effect for a mission or quest, it is best to continue even if the mission finishes badly. Same for quests and missions —restarting a level uses up one of the five allotted lives.
