Google has started to roll out its newest Android platform, the Nougat 7.0. The next in line to get the platform update is the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 LTE.

In a statement to Android Police, Google has hinted that the next lineup devices to get the new Android Nougat 7.0 platform are the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 LTE. However, the tech giant has not specified a rollout date for the update, just that the OTA notification for the said devices will come out "in the coming weeks."

While Google has not pegged a specific rollout schedule for its Android Nougat update, it can be expected that the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 LTE will get Android Nougat in an early as two weeks. It seems likely that the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 LTE will get their Android 7.0 platforms by late September or early October. Google has already laid out the source files for its new platforms, so third-party tech makers are already testing their own Android Nougat platforms. However, there is a tacit understanding that non-Nexus devices will get a new Android version only after Google has completed its update rollout.

In addition, speculations suggest that, while most Nexus and non-Nexus devices are waiting for the original Android Nougat platform, Google is already readying an Android Nougat 7.1 version. Reports indicate that Google is preparing its new Pixel and Pixel XL flagships as Android Nougat platform iterations and that the company will launch the new devices as early as next month already carrying Android 7.1. This means that the Nougat 7.0 version intended for the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 LTE is likely to roll out before the Pixel flagship debuts, pegged to be on October 4.

Fans have been waiting for the Android Nougat update — particularly for the Nexus 6 — for some time now. When Google first released a list of Nexus devices bound for Android Nougat, the Nexus 6 is not among them, prompting observers to agree that the list is incomplete.
