Android 4.3 update for Galaxy S3, Note 2 re-confirmed by Samsung; Galaxy S4 models continue to receive upgrade

Samsung has yet to roll out the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update to Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 owners in the United States, but the Korean tech giant recently announced the new features and changes that the new that the upgrade will bring to the Galaxy line.

Samsung announced details of the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean upgrade in a press released on Oct. 23, 2013:

Samsung Galaxy S4, S III, and Note II will get the Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) update. For Galaxy S III and Note II, new capabilities provide easier text input, and updated graphics and multimedia, as well as new updates to Samsung features and applications, including:

• Smsung KNOX, a secure and comprehensive mobile solution for enterprises and consumers. (Galaxy S III 3G

version will get Samsung KNOX with a platform security only in select countries.)

Samsung also announced that more devices will be compatible with the Galaxy Gear smartwatch through the latest Jelly Bean update.

Galaxy S4 owners in Germany were the first to receive the Android 4.3 update by Samsung this month. However, although the update continues to roll out to international users, Galaxy S4 owners in the U.S. have not received an update yet.

While all focus is on the latest Android 4.3 update for the Galaxy S3, S4 and Note 2, Australian carrier Telstra recently released a timeline of upcoming updates for its smartphone devices, one of which pointed to an Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy S3 in November.

It is a well known fact that Samsung has skipped the 4.2 Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy S3, so the listing on Telstra for a November 25th update is a bit unusual.

Android 4.3 update release dates for the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S4 have not been announced by any U.S. carrier as of yet.

However, HTC owners on America's AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile network have already received the Android 4.3 update.

All software updates will be available over-the-air (OTA).
