The creepy FX original series that is "American Horror Story" won't air its fourth season until October 2014, but we already have some juicy details to chew on in the meantime.

It was recently revealed that "The Shield" actor Michael Chiklis will be joining the cast in the first episode, playing Evan Peters' father and Kathy Bates' ex-husband.

However, it is unknown what the other character's roles are, as each "American Horror Story" season is like its own miniseries. The first season was themed 'Murder House,' the second season 'Asylum,' and the 'Coven' season finale aired in January. Rumors of Season 4's circus or carnival theme was perpetuated by fan posters and promotional videos, until producer Ryan Murphy confirmed "American Horror Story: Freak Show" last week:

Murphy had previously told fans: "It's set in 1950. If you look historically what happened in the year 1950, there's some more clues in that year. It's a period piece. We try and do the opposite of what we've done before. Jessica Lange has already started practicing her German accent so I'm very excited!"

Michael Chiklis also expressed excitement in returning to his "home network," FX. The confirmed returning castmembers are Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Frances Conroy, Jessica Lange, Gabourey Sidibe, Denis O'Hare, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Emma Roberts, and Jamie Brewer.

Ryan Murphy, co-creator Brad Falchuck, and the entire cast appeared at The Paley Center for Media's Paleyfest 2014 for a panel discussion and audience Q&A. Murphy said the cast is like a family, and a "troupe of actors," and he remains in touch with castmembers Connie Britton and Dylan McDermott-- who did not appear on Season 3. Sarah Paulson discussed how difficult Season 2 was for her, as 'Asylum' was particularly torturous physically and emotionally for her character, Lana Winters.
