Another franchise classic has been added to the Xbox One backwards compatibility program, as the list now includes the original "Call of Duty 2."

The original 2005 shooter by Infinity Ward is considered one of the major titles for the Xbox 360, as it was a launching game for the previous-gen console. Now though, players can check out the remastered version for the Xbox One. Although the announcement is far from the expected "Call of Duty 2: Modern Warfare" game that players expected to come into the program, having another "Call of Duty" title for the Xbox One backwards compatibility games list is still welcome news. This is doubly true for Infinity Ward, as the studio is readying for another new release in the franchise, "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" which is scheduled to release on November 4.

To date, the backwards compatible games for the Xbox One number at least 230 and counting. However, players who already purchased "Call of Duty 2" for the Xbox 360 need not purchase the game again, as it will automatically show up on their Xbox One games library.

Meanwhile, the original 'Call of Duty 2" joins other franchise games that are now backwards-compatible for the Xbox One. Previously, the program has already added other "Call of Duty" titles like "Black Ops" and the spin-off "Call of Juarez." It is expected though, the more franchise installments will make it to the list, such as "Call of Duty 4," "Modern Warfare 2," and "Black Ops 2."

As for the original "Call of Duty 2" played on the Xbox One, Games Radar reports that first impressions are favorable. The classic title has benefited greatly from the Xbox One's features, as it is said that graphics-wise, the remastered game now has a steady 60 fps and smoother performance even through graphics-intensive scenes, which is one of the game's struggles on its original Xbox 360 run.
