Normally, two games from the current Games with Gold lineup are available during at least the first half of the following month. However, in the March lineup, only one game will cross over to April.

The March lineup for the Games with Gold program of Microsoft Xbox is already out. The current list includes "Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishment" and "Lords of the Fallen" for the Xbox One, and "Supreme Commander 2" and "Borderlands" for the Xbox 360.

However, in the lineup, only "Lords of the Fallen" crosses over to next month, as the title will be listed as a free game download from March 16 to April 15. The other Xbox One title is currently available and is free throughout the month of March.

Meanwhile, "Supreme Commander 2" is available from March 1 to 15, while "Borderlands" will become a free game for Xbox 360 players from March 16 to 31. It should also be noted that these two games can also be downloaded and played on the Xbox One via the backwards compatibility feature.

While it is unclear why Xbox will have only one title cross over to April, it seems plausible that there will be a surprise addition for the Xbox One early next month. It should be noted that Microsoft recently changed the schedule of the release of backwards-compatible games. Previously, the list was update monthly. Now, Microsoft adds backwards-compatible games for the Xbox One as soon as they become available.

There may be a triple-A title waiting to be released early next month, or Xbox One may add some more titles to the mix.  Microsoft may have also anticipated the already-confirmed "Dark Souls" being ported as an Xbox One backwards-compatible game. The original "Dark Souls" will come as a pre-order bonus, playable on the Xbox One, when "Dark Souls III" arrives later this month.
