WWE Battleground news, rumors: Will Seth Rollins retain heavyweight title?

It seems that Seth Rollins' WWE heavyweight title reign will be coming to an end when he faces a ballistic Brock Lesnar in WWE Battleground at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri on July 19.

But certain storylines need to be taken into consideration. And if rumors are true, don't be surprised to see Rollins escaping from the jaws of the dangerous Beast Incarnate.

With Rollins re-aligning himself with the Authority, anything can happen. It could result in something favorable for Rollins or the exact opposite. But one thing that many may have not noticed is that Rollins can still elude Lesnar with a disqualification.

The WWE title can only change hands if Lesnar wins via pinfall or submission. But Rollins has the luxury of using the dreaded DQ tactic to his advantage.

Lesnar could also end up losing it and hence, saving Rollins the trouble (like maybe the use of a foreign object or someone (from the Authority?) hitting Rollins that could cost Lesnar the title. These scenarios are not far from happening.

Why the title retention? Lesnar doesn't need the WWE title around his waist to stir up a storm. He has done it before. Besides, it could be something to prolong the storyline heading into WWE SummerSlam.

SummerSlam is memorable for Lesnar since this marks the time when he first won the title last year in dominating fashion against John Cena.

If so, does this confirm rumors of a Rollins vs. Triple H match? From all indications, this could be the case unless Lesnar ends up focusing on someone else like Roman Reigns. Both fighters are rumored to be facing each other at WWE SummerSlam, and it could be a plain match rather than one for the WWE title.

But where does this put the Reigns vs. Wyatt angle? Remember that the feud between the two is something many believe should continue so it could shelve that rumor about Reigns fighting Lesnar.

There are so many possibilities, but the best way to find out which one will happen is to see how the Rollins vs. Lesnar match ends up.The WWE pay-per-view event will be aired live via the WWE Network.
