Fans should not be making plans to get "The Witcher 4" anytime soon.

According to Marcin Iwiński, co-founder and joint CEO of the game's developer, CD Projekt Red, the company has not even begun to think about the next installment of the franchise.

Iwiński went on to say that for now, the "Witcher" franchise deserves to rest for a while. Iwiński talked about the amount of time CD Projekt Red's developers have already spent on making the games in the franchise, indicating that the team has spent most of the last decade just focusing on that particular series.

The CEO also said that the company currently has no plans to release any annual installments of "The Witcher" franchise, according to iDigital Times.

Despite Iwiński suggesting that a new "Witcher" game is not coming out anytime soon, he did say that the world of the game lends itself perfectly to more installments being released for the franchise. He talked about the enormous world within "The Witcher 3" and indicated that there could easily be more stories extracted from that landscape.

One concrete detail that did come out for "The Witcher 4" is that players will be using a new main character in the next installment of the franchise, according to Gamespot.

CD Projekt Red has already indicated that "The Witcher 3" will be the end of Geralt's time as the franchise's protagonist, although they stopped short of saying who might take over for him, leaving the door open for numerous characters who may already be part of the game or an entirely new character.

As for what will be keeping CD Projekt Red busy for the foreseeable future, Iwiński said that the company will now be focusing on a game that will be featuring "guns, androids and some ammo." The game Iwiński is referring to is the role-playing game "Cyberpunk 2077."
