The Flash Season 2 spoilers, plot news: Barry's new love interest, new characters detailed

The Flash CW

The Flash Season 2 is set to premiere in October and fans are desperately searching for news and leaks about what will happen when the new season is released later this year. Luckily, producers have been generous enough to give new details every week, helping to maintain interest and talk among fans as they countdown.

First off, two new characters will be introduced next season, according to reports. These new characters may have a big impact on the show as one is reported to have a "major recurring role", while the other is believed to be around for a while.

To recap what happened in the Season 1 finale episode, it ended with Caitlin and Ronnie getting married; Barry went back in time to save his mom with his his future self getting in the way.

Also upon Barry's return to the present time, Eddie, played by Rick Cosnett, sacrificed himself to save "The Blur" from the Reverse Flash.

With Eddie's death, it was revealed that Detective Joe West will have a new partner for the next season. Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that Cosnett will not be coming back as a regular for Season 2.

As for West's new partner, Comicbook.com has stumbled upon audition clips revealing that comic book character Patty Spivot will appear in the show taking on the role.

Based on the comics, Patty works for the Central City Police Department as a forensic blood analyst. Moreover, she was Barry's assistant and girlfriend.

Who knows what story will unfold between the Scarlet Speedster and West's new partner in the TV series, but last week, Cinema Blend reported that Barry will meet his new love interest, Wendy.

No one has been signed to play Wendy's character yet, but what is known is that her character is described as "spunky, fun and funny" by TV line, and she is expected to fit in just fine with the rest of the gang.

So far, no big announcement on the casting for The Flash Season 2 has been given yet, but it is already known that Firestorm will return on the first episode and Killer Frost might head to the dark side sooner than expected.

The Flash Season 2 will air in the same timeslot, Tuesdays 8/7c, in CW.
