As previously reported, the next "Elder Scrolls" game might not be released until 2019 reportedly due to Bethesda Softworks current focus on both "The Elder Scrolls Online" and the recently launched "Fallout 4." One thing is reportedly going to be implemented in the next game: it will be "Skyrim 2," a direct follow-up to "The Elder Scrolls V."

According to a report from Crossmap, this is almost a guaranteed certainty and may be the only clue gamers have regarding "The Elder Scrolls VI" at this point. The reason why this tidbit might be true is because Bethesda's very own Pete Hines himself called the game as such back in June.

"They'd be spitting out a 'Skyrim 2' the year after or two years later," Hines stated in relation to how other game publishers might have handled their franchise. "That's just not how we view it. We're not the sort of publisher that focuses on 'what's our 25 titles for 2015.'"

Hines' use of the words "Skyrim 2" instead of "The Elder Scrolls VI" may indicate that the next game will be set again in the snowy north instead of locations from older titles such as Morrowind or entirely new places in the game world such as the Black Marshes. The events in the game might even take place immediately after the death of Alduin, the game's main antagonist.

The statement also confirms why the game won't be releasing any time soon. There are publishers such as Ubisoft  and Activision that demand a new title from their franchises every year, which has led to an influx of "Assassin's Creed" and "Call of Duty" games.

This has led many fans to believe they have oversaturated the market with too many games year after year, with each new title being marginally better than the last. Bethesda Softworks has noticeably strayed from this tactic and the company tends to take at least four years in between each release of every "Elder Scrolls" title.
