Elizabeth "Liz" Keen (Megan Boone) is still alive but was abducted by Alexander Kirk (Ulrich Thomsen), who is claiming to be her father. Season 4 might not prove this to be true, as it will possibly unfold the real story behind the real relationship of Raymond "Red" Reddington (James Spader) to Liz.

To recap the series, Liz had everyone believing that she was dead but season 3 reveals that she only faked it. Boone said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that Liz needed to have a life away from Red and his being secretive of what he knows about her past. Just when she thought she was going to get away with it, meeting her husband Tom Keen (Ryan Eggold) and her daughter Agnes in Cuba, she gets abducted by Kirk, who was last seen in the series finale telling her "Masha, I'm your father." But this just may not be the truth.

According to Movie News Guide, season 3 revealed the insight that Kirk may have had a bad history with Red, making them each other's nemesis. Kirk taking Liz hostage and pretending to be her father is possibly one of his schemes to get revenge on Red. This supports the strongest speculation of all, that Liz is the daughter of Red as a result of his relations with her mother Katarina Rostova (Lotte Verbeek). However, if there is any truth to Kirk being Liz's father, it only poses more questions to what is the real relationship of Red to Liz.

Even though Liz betrayed Red by trying to get away at the most deceiving way possible, fans can expect Liz to return to Red in search of answers of who he really is to her. Showrunners Jon Bokenkamp and John Eisendrath said to Entertainment Weekly, "Oh, that is still a big question to her. That's still something that she will want answers to. She's also resigned to the fact that there's only so much that Red is going to tell her; he withholds information, he tells partial truths."

"The Blacklist" season 4 will premiere on Thursday, Sept. 22, at 10 p.m. EDT on NBC.
