Good Morning, Vietnam (1987)

In this movie, Williams plays a newly shipped Disc Jockey Adrian Cronauer. His character was said to have been dispatched from Crete to Vietnam to take over AFR's Saigon radio broadcasts. With his quirk and humor, Cronauer won the hearts of the troops. His show then became wildly popular in the area. However, Cronauer runs afoul with his superiors who believed he was not G.I. material. Good Will Hunting (1997)

Playing the role of Sean Maguire, Williams endeared viewers to the struggles of a successful professional who masked his issues through his work. Nonetheless, his struggles surfaced as he helped the 20-year-old Will Hunting. Referred by one of his friends to become his patient, Maguire found himself drawn to the complex issues encountered by the South Boston laborer. Williams won the 1998 Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for his portrayal of the troubled therapist in this film.

Dead Poets Society (1989)

In this movie, Williams gave life to the character of John Keating, an English teacher in Welton Academy.
