The World Cup is over but things are hotting up at home as the top flight clubs get their squads in order ahead of the start of the Premier League on August 16.

With just a few weeks to go, managers are closing in on their transfer targets and the latest is that Newcastle United have just signed Remy Cabella for an undisclosed fee on a six-year deal, according to the BBC.

The 24-year-old comes to the club after a career played solely at Montpellier and joins Newcastle alongside other summer signings Ayoze Perez, Jack Colback and Siem de Jong.

Newcastle Utd manager Alan Pardew praised his "flair, hard work and commitment" and said he would bring "talent, energy and quality to St James' Park".  Cabella said he "wanted to join a great English club". 

Arsenal have reportedly sealed a 29 million euro, four-year deal with Germany midfielder Sami Khedira, according to Spanish newspaper Sport. 

Chelsea had reportedly also been gunning for the 27-year-old Real Madrid player but will now have to look elsewhere.

Manchester City are in the final stages of talks to sign France centre-back Eliaquim Mangala.  The Porto defender is set to go to Man City for £32m, sealing the deal that has been a long time in the making - he was nearly signed in January but wanted more time to think the move over.

Meanwhile Arturo Vidal has been sending positive signal's in the direction of Man Utd after saying he would "love to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world".  The club are reportedly in talks to bring him to Old Trafford for £35m but the 27-year-old Chilean is certainly not in any rush to make a decision.

He told Chilean newspaper La Tercera that he is currently enjoying his holidays and will "see what happens" when he returns to Italy, where he currently plays for Juventus.

It's set to be a bumber opening weekend, with Sky Sports reportedly showing the top four from last season.  The Telegraph reports a formal announcement is due today or tomorrow on Sky's broadcasting but it's expected to confirm Man City vs Newcastle United, Liverpool vs Southampton, Chelsea vs Burnley and Arsenal vs Crystal Palace.  

Man City will certainly be hoping to pull off a better result than their surprise 2-0 defeat to Dundee in a pre-season friendly at Dens Park at the weekend.

Eyes will also be on Man Utd too to see how the team performs under new boss Van Gaal, who impressed with the Netherlands at the World Cup.
