'Pregnant Yazidi sex slaves forced to abort their babies to satisfy their ISIS owners'

Members of the Yazidi sect, among some 200 elderly and infirm released by ISIS militants, are welcomed back by their families on the outskirts of Kirkuk, Iraq, on April 8, 2015. They are the lucky ones since other Yazidi women have been turned into sex slaves by their ISIS captors.Reuters

Pregnant sex slaves of Islamic State militants are reportedly being forced to undergo abortions so that they could be sold at slave markets and satisfy their owners' lust.

This was the revelation made by three young Yazidis to CNN who have fled from the brutal clutches of the ISIS. They said members of the barbaric faction even brought their own gynaecologists to the slave markets in Iraq to determine which of the women were virgins and who were found to be expecting.

According to Bushra, 21, she witnessed two doctors 'invasively' examining girls to find out if they were already pregnant. Those found to be expecting were forced to abort their unborn babies.

"One of my friends was pregnant. Her child was about three months in the womb. They took her into another room. There were two doctors and they did the abortion,'' said Bushra.

"Afterwards, they brought her back. I asked her what happened and how they did it. She said the doctors told her not to speak."

The abortion reportedly left the woman bleeding profusely and in so much pain that "she could not talk or walk," CNN said.

Munira 16, and Noor, 22, meanwhile shared with CNN their horrific experience while in the hands of militants who raped them and "passed them on'' to their friends.

"I was given as a prize to another ISIS fighter twice. And the second time, I was traded for another girl,'' said Munira.

She said ISIS members usually conduct inspection of women sold at slave markets before they are given away as wives to the fighters.

"They examined our belly, teeth and breasts.''

Noor said when girls refuse to go with a man or marry a man, they are taken by force.

"One man picked me. He was old, ugly and fat. I was so scared. There were some other ISIS fighters so I begged one of them, 'Please, take me. Take me anywhere and marry me, if you want, but take me away from this one.' So he did."

While she wasn't forced to have sex with him immediately, Noor said the fighter who had chosen her returned from the front line, showed her a letter and said "this shows any captured women will become Muslim if 10 ISIS fighters rape her.''

He then raped her before passing her on to 11 others, CNN reported.

The three young women are among the hundreds of Yazidis, mostly from Sinjar, who have been forced into sex slavery by ISIS militants. While many have escaped captivity, hundreds more women remain enslaved, said CNN.
