The last episode of "One Punch Man" season 1 just recently aired but the series is far from over. Series creator Murata Yusuke took to Twitter to announce that he is hard at work at getting the second season going and there are now rumors that season 2 may be able to launch as early as this coming December.

According to a report from CrossMap, it is possible that the second season will premiere before the end of the year but this is only going to happen if the animation studios begin working on the episodes as soon as possible. It is stated that the studios have an advantage as there are still story arcs in the manga to adopt.

This will reportedly make it easier for the animators to begin work, unlike "Attack on Titan," which requires the manga to be four story arcs ahead of the anime. The "One Punch Man" anime roughly ends on chapter 37 of the manga and at the time of writing there are roughly 86 chapters total, giving the animators a lot of material to work with.

Season 2 will likely finish the fight between Saitama and Boros while also introducing a few new villains such as Amai Mask. Amai Mask was introduced as a hero but is rumored to later turn into a villain after he blames the Hero Association for the destruction of the city.

Fans of the manga series will also note that the second season may begin the next major story arc in the series, which involves the villain Garou. Garou's story arc is quite long, however, and it is likely he will not be introduced until the very end of season 2 and then become the main focus of season 3.

However, KPopStarz reports that there is a chance the second season won't release this year. Not only is season 2 not yet in development but the studios are also currently busy working on the OVA series, which are mini-movies focusing on individual "One Punch Man" stories.
