New York Knicks rumors: Vujacic to sign one year deal?

Wikipedia

A former player could be reuniting with his old coach and teammate with reports that the New York Knicks have reached an agreement with Sasha Vujacic.

The deal will reportedly be for one year, although the financial part of it has yet to be disclosed.

Vujacic was a member of the Los Angeles Lakers from 2005 to 2010 and was a very effective player coming off the bench. He was part of the run that saw the Lakers win the NBA plum in 2009–10 season.

Sasha left the Lakers at about the same time that Jackson retired from coaching. He was traded to the Brooklyn Nets in 2010 but things didn't turn out smoothly.

The Slovenian guard has since been out of the NBA scene. He did sign up with the LA Clippers in 2013–14 but things just didn't work out. He has spent most of his time playing overseas, the last being in the Spanish League.

Now 31, Vujacic could bring some experience in the backcourt since the former Laker guard is pretty much familiar with Jackson's triangle offense. Even though he may have to polish up on what he knows since he has been out of the NBA scene for some time, he could help preach the said system to the other players on the team.

It will be interesting to see how he can fit into the Knicks system and what he can do to help the club's campaign for the coming season.

Although some are apprehensive of his signing, the fact remains that implementing the system that is currently being done by Fisher and maybe even Jackson would need help from players who have actually done it.

It being a one-year deal and considering the Knicks don't really have a lineup to brag about, there seems to be no loss in taking their chances over the Slovenian guard.

Vujacic could make a successful return, flourish, or flop. Either way, he could be a good gamble depending on how he blends in with Fisher and the current crop of players the Knicks have in tow.
