NBA rumors: Ray Allen ready to join any team

Contrary to earlier belief, Ray Allen has not completely closed the doors on potentially playing in the NBA. Allen, 39, had mentioned some months ago that he was seriously leaning on retirement, dousing any hopes of a much awaited comeback.

Even at a prime age of 39, Allen has shown that he can still play. Especially since his specialization is from the three point arc, Allen can be a great addition for any team that would consider taking him in.

Allen had been linked to several teams in the early goings of the NBA season, particularly the Cleveland Cavaliers because of good friend LeBron James. Of course his last team, the Miami Heat had hoped to sign him up as well but all of the talks fizzled when Allen sent feelers that he was seriously considering retirement.

Other teams which showed interest in Allen include that of the Washington Wizards, San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Clippers, Chicago Bulls and the Golden State Warriors.

But surprisingly, Allen seems to be humming a different tune. In an interview with the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Allen mentioned that he was keeping himself in shape just in case any NBA team would be interested in his services.

"At my age I need to stay in shape," he said, if teams need his services as they move toward the second half of the season.

The whole issue on whether Allen would play or not seems to be erratic and teams seem to be confused as well on what Allen really wants to do. Will he play or will he retire. Many wrote Allen off since hearing that he was leaning on retirement. But now with the second half of the NBA regular season nearing, could any team possibly be interested? Apparently a lot and would be and don't be surprised if among them include the team which were eyeing him earlier in the year.
