The battle against Kaguya Ōtsutsuki is finally done and over with, with the former Team 7 having defeated her in "Naruto Shippuden" episode 474. However, in an unexpected turn of events, Sasuke suddenly changed and has apparently become a new threat.

The war seems to be over in episode 475 when Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, Kakashi, and the Tailed Beasts are summoned to the presence of the Sage of the Six Paths. The latter congratulates them and, with their final goodbyes, all reincarnated Kage return to the Pure Land.

With his mother's defeat, the Sage of the Six paths asks Naruto and Sasuke if their answers to his previous question have changed. Naruto says no, but Sasuke's reply surprises them all. He declares that he would kill the Kage who are trapped in the Infinite Tsukuyomi. He then puts all of the Tailed Beasts in a genjutsu and says that he will have to kill Naruto out of necessity, given that he has the Tailed Beasts' chakra inside him. No matter how much Sakura begs, he ignores her plea and puts her in a genjutsu so that she wouldn't get in the way.

Sasuke and Naruto then go to the Valley of the End, on top of Madara's and Hashirama's statues, the place where they fought when they were younger. There, Naruto tells him that he, Sasuke, would never be Hokage. The latter retorts that they have different views on what the title or position means and that he would show Naruto what it really means to be Hokage.

The face-off between Sasuke and Naruto will reportedly be a one-hour feature that will be covered in "Naruto Shippuden" episodes 476 and 477. If the anime remains true to the manga, then the upcoming installment will likely start with the events of chapter 694, with Sasuke explaining to his frenemy what he thinks a Hokage should be. Much of the conversation centers on what happened to his brother Itachi, but, in a nutshell, Sasuke wants to destroy the past and start fresh, with a leader without attachments.

Chapter 695 of the manga is the start of the battle, and fans can expect some good fight scenes when it is adapted into the anime. Of course, they should also expect to see a lot of flashbacks and memories, which is quite common in the series.

The fight is the last in the manga, so the anime is expected to be nearing its conclusion. Yibada is speculating, however, that the novels by mangaka Masashi Kishimoto might be animated as well.
