Moto X+1 (X2) release date Sept. 4: Top 5 specs and features to watch out for

Motorola confirmed that the Moto X+1 or the Moto X2 release date will be on Sept. 4 and already sent out the invites to the press for its event taking place in Chicago.

The smartphone will be launched alongside the company's second generation of Moto G and smartwatch Moto 360 based on the photo in the invitation. After the launch, the handset will head to key carriers and retailers on Sept. 25. Below are the top five specs and features of the upcoming Moto X+1 (X2) that buyers should watch out for on the release date of the device on Sept. 4.

  • 5.2-inch 1920 x 1080p Full HD Display

The Moto X+1 (X2) will pack a slightly larger screen display of 5.2 inches with Full HD resolution that promises clearer and sharper pictures.

  • 2.5 GHz Snapdragon 800 quad-core with 2GB of RAM

Moto X+1 (X2) will be powered by a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. Although the chipset is not the latest version, it still delivers a fair performance to back up the features of the handset.

  • 16/32GB internal storage with micro-SD external storage

Moto X's successor will be available in 16GB and 32GB internal storages variants and will comes with micro-SD slot for additional storage. Thus, this will enable users to save a big chunk of files and data.

  • Android 4.4.4 KitKat

The smartphone will run with the latest 4.4.4 version of Kitkat OS since Android L mobile software is not yet announced. However, rest assured that the handset will be updated on the said operating system once it was out.

  • 12 Megapixel rear and 2.1 MP front cameras

Compared to other smartphones, the Moto X+1 (X2) will sport a 12 MP back camera paired with 2.1 MP front-facing cameras. It is still unconfirmed whether the handset will come with special camera features such as optical image stabilization (OIS) of Full HD capture.
