Microsoft's Surface Book 2 is one of the anticipated products from the tech giant. However, there are rumors that there is a delay and that it will not make it this year. There are several reasons rumored to cause the delay -- the processor's mass production schedule, a design malfunction and an issue with operating system schedule.

It was previously reported that the rumored Surface Book 2 will be carrying the next generation of Intel processors, the Kaby Lake. Aside from being more powerful and energy efficient, it will reportedly be dropping several new features down the line. These include a native 4K support, improved 3D graphics and its Thunderbolt 3 USB technology. It was also noted that the mass production of the seventh-generation processor will only start by fourth quarter of the year.

The Surface Book 2 is also said to be encountering design issues. One of the drawbacks of the original Surface Book was its "Dynamic Fulcrum Hinge," its muscle wire. Microsoft's unusual design of the hinge and locking mechanism is causing users trouble.  Owners still need to press and hold a button before the base lets the tablet go because power is required by the locks, TechRadar reported.

Lastly, Microsoft is still developing the Windows 10 Redstone 2 version for its operating system. It is rumored that Redstone 2 will be released by early 2017 and will coincide with another product of the company, the Surface Phone. The Redstone 2 update is said to contain several features that will benefit mobile devices. All upcoming Surface devices will carry the Redstone 2 version.

The Surface Book 2 is believed to be coming in with a 13.5-inch display size, same with the original, but will offer a higher screen resolution, said to be 3840 x 2160, a bigger battery capacity, and a new Surface Pen.

It is still several months before 2017 comes in, so it is now a wait-and-see game for fans.
