LA Lakers 2015 rumors: Wesley Johnson could be gone too

Wesley JohnsonWikipedia

Wesley Johnson is the latest name that could be dropped by the Los Angeles Lakers although that is not final for now.

Apparently Johnson's fate will depend on whether the Lakers can find someone better and consistent in the free agent market.

Johnson is a promising player but his inconsistent performance has become a drawback and possibly a reason why the Lakers may not bring him back next year. Whether he returns with the Lakers or not may eventually be found out once the free agent market opens on July 1.

Aside from the free agent market, remember that the Lakers could get a blue chip rookie in the coming NBA Draft as well. If that happens, it could be goodbye to Johnson who may not be re-signed for another season.

Thus, Johnson could be joining Jeremy Lin and possibly Nick Young as Laker players that would be looking for a new team to latch on to in the offseason.

Lin is not expected to return to the Lakers fold, seeing that he has failed to adapt to the system of coach Byron Scott and has had issues with Kobe Bryant.

Nick Young on the other hand has been underperforming and may reportedly be put up for trade. One thing that both Lin and Young have is that they carry hefty paychecks as well. Unloading them could give the Lakers more leeway as far as hooking up new and hopefully fit players as the Lakers try to rebuild.

Going back to Johnson, the real issue is really his inconsistency. Apparently the Lakers were hoping to see a better Johnson, owing to his re-signing this season. But as it turned out, Johnson was not that significant in helping the depleted cause of the Lakers.

So it is goodbye to Wesley Johnson? As things stand right now, his future on a Laker uniform certainly doesn't look bright.
