Jeremy Lin news: Charlotte Hornets move could reignite Linsanity craze

There was a time when Jeremy Lin was all over the NBA headlines and all that could probably happen again if he can prove that he is truly with a right team.

Lin is reportedly happy to be joining the Charlotte Hornets after a less than desirable year with the Los Angeles Lakers and things could be looking up. In fact this early, there are many who feel that Lin could end up vying for the Sixth Man of the Year award.

Of course that is pushing it up a bit for now. First, we have to see how Lin would fit into the Charlotte Hornets' system and perhaps gauge from there how he will perform this coming season.

Lin was simply a misfit in the Lakers system, failing to take a grasp of coach Byron Scott's philosophy. Starting off with high expectations, Lin found himself on the rear end of the Lakers bench and ended up with scrap minutes rather than show the wares that made "Linsanity" a phenomenon.

Hopefully that will not happen when he takes the floor in a Hornet uniform this coming season. Also, it remains to be seen how he and head coach Steve Clifford can hit it off.

Lin is expected to either share minutes with Kemba Walker or play simultaneously. Apparently, Lin is a versatile guard who can score and create situations if he chooses to do so.

There are of course big expectations from Lin heading into the season. And while many are upbeat, it would be safer to hold off expectations for Lin at least until he plays his very first game for the Hornets.

All that Lin got is a new opportunity but that doesn't exactly mean that the American-Asian player will be an instant hit. Even though he was a highly coveted guard last season, it remains that he still has to prove his worth.

His time in Los Angeles was a setback and now Lin has to prove why he deserves to continue playing in the NBA. And all that starts this October when the new season kicks off.
