iPhone 6: Phablet with 5.5 inch display to come with 128GB internal storage

Latest reports from China claimed that only the 5.5 inch iPhone 6 phablet will sport a 128GB internal storage.

Apple Insider cited Chinese sources and reported that only the alleged larger model of iPhone 6 will sport 128GB storage, while the 4.7 inch variant will be stuck with 64GB storage. A Chinese blog Feng also stated the new iPhone 6 may axe the 16GB option and will offer the 32GB model as the smallest storage variant.

Reports continued that Apple's new flagship smartphone will be released on September 19 and the 32GB and 64GB will cost around $850 and $1,000, respectively. Septembers 19 is a possible release date for iPhone 6 based on the releases of previous iPhones.

Recent rumors stated that the two iPhone models will arrive simultaneously. There are reports that say that the larger model will arrive a month later after the 4.7 inch variant.

The former will most likely happen since the mass production of iPhone 6 in China is slated for this month, according to Bloomberg. Moreover, October is dedicated to Apple's iPad and Mac line. Foxconn, Apple partner in manufacturing in China, is reportedly hiring an additional of 100,000 workers to help with production of new Apple devices – iPhones and iPads.

The report also said that Apple pushed bigger screen displays due to the pressure from its Android-based rivals that have at least 5-inch screen panels.

Moreover, deals and discounts on the current smartphones, iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C, hinted the imminent release of iPhone 6. Retailer Walmart offers the 16GB version of iPhone 5s handset for $99, instead of its usual price of $149. Also, the retailer offers the16GB model of the low-end iPhone 5c for $29 from $49. Both smartphones will come with a new or renewed two-year contract from carriers.

Rumors claimed that the iPhone 6 will pack features such as A8 processor, iOS 8, and improved camera and fingerprint sensor. However, Apple remained mum amidst the rumors surrounding the new iPhones.
