The specs of the HTC Nexus 2016 were leaked, revealing what the successor of the Nexus 5X developed by LG last year will be all about.

According to Android Police, the Nexus 2016 device codenamed HTC Sailfish (the second new Nexus smartphone is dubbed Marlin) will come with a 5-inch Full HD display.

It is noticeably smaller compared to its predecessor, which came with a 5.2-inch screen. The pixel resolution is the same though. Since the HTC Nexus 2016 will be smaller, it could be richer in the visuals as well.

The HTC Nexus 2016 will be fitted out with a quad-core 64-bit processor clocked at 2.0GHz. The exact model is yet to be revealed. Aiding this chipset is 4GB RAM and 32GB storage tucked in the device.

On the imaging department, the HTC Nexus 2016 will offer a 12MP camera on the back and an 8MP selfie shooter, which is an upgrade from its predecessor's 5MP snapper. Users can also expect Bluetooth 4.2 on board.

On the hardware side of things, the HTC Nexus 2016 boasts a Type USB-C port, a headphone jack on top, a speaker at the bottom and a rear fingerprint scanner.

The inclusion of headphone jack is of note seeing that tech companies appear to start the trend of losing the traditional headphone jack for a thinner build and Bluetooth headsets further pushed.

It goes without saying that the Nexus handset will be one of the first smartphones to don the Android N, which should launch alongside the said device.

The HTC Nexus 2016 will have all that running with a 2,770mAh battery pack in tow. That's a tad bigger than the one on the original Nexus 5X, which came with 2,700mAh.

Android Police claims in a separate report that Google is working on a live-support that will allow screen-sharing.

As for the release date, the HTC Nexus 2016 is expected to be launched this fall along with the Android N.
