Hillary doesn't believe in changing hearts, but that's God's work—Franklin Graham

Reverend Franklin Graham says nowadays some people, including Democratic presidential frontrunner Hillary Clinton, might no longer believe in the power of changed hearts, but that he has not given up hope on its power since changing hearts is the work of God.

"In a video released by CNN, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said in a closed-door meeting with Black Lives Matter activists: 'I don't believe you change hearts. I believe you change laws, you change the allocation of resources, and you change the way systems operate,'" Graham wrote on his Facebook page.

The evangelist said he disagrees with Clinton. "Changed hearts do make a difference—and God is in the heart-changing business!" he said.

All lives matter to Him, added Graham, regardless of the colour of their skin. The way to true reconciliation among the races is through hearts changed by God who created all of mankind, Graham said. He then quoted the Bible verse Ezekiel 36:26 which says, "Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you."

The first step in obtaining a new heart and spirit is through repentance, Graham said. In a separate post, he shared the verse 1 John 1:9, which says: "If we confess our sins, he who is faithful and just will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

One of the biggest sins that people can make is lying, Graham said, adding that lying is especially sinful when a liar convinces himself or herself that doing so is okay just as long as he or she can get away with it.

"If you listen to the news today, many politicians operate as if lying is perfectly acceptable. Some lie about their emails, some lie about sex, some lie about their taxes, lie to their spouses, on and on," he said. "While we need to let Washington know that America isn't going to vote for liars, we may forget that lying is a serious matter for all of us—because it's a serious matter to God. Lying is sin, and sin has consequences."
