'Halo 5: Guardians' update: Windows 10 launch not happening

"Halo 5: Guardians" will still not be made available on the PC.Microsoft/343 Industries

Developer 343 Industries may be bringing the Forge tools of "Halo 5: Guardians" to Windows 10, but the company is not going as far as to release the game in its entirety in the said platform.

Fans are advised not to take it as an indication of the whole of the shooter getting the same treatment. The company still sticks to its plans to forgo a "Halo 5" Windows 10 release.

But 343 Industries emphasizes that with the "Halo 5" Forge tools in place, there will be a lot of things that the developer can do in the PC.

"Releasing Forge for Windows 10 for free will open up endless opportunities to the PC community to build and play Halo 5 multiplayer content," the company wrote in its blog post.

343 Industries also believes that through this, "Halo 5" fans on PC will be able to "share their creations with gamers on Xbox One as well. Windows 10 remains an important focus for the Halo franchise moving forward."

"Halo 5" Forge for Windows 10 allows players to create or download a Forge map and play (keyboard and mouse play is totally possible) strictly with players on Windows 10 only under the rules they themselves will set.

The Forge fun on PC begins later this year. 343 Industries is yet to determine a specific release date, but rest assured fans will not spend a single cent to play it, although they have to put with the friends-list curb, which isn't a bad thing for a "Halo 5" freebie.

The Forge tools coming to Windows 10 PC will come with 4K resolution support and will allow gamers to publisher creations on the Xbox One version, but there will be no cross-play between the platforms.

While fans can now officially bid goodbye to dreams of a "Halo 5" PC release, they can expect an entirely new "Halo" game to hit the platform. 343 Industries is bringing "Halo Wars 2" to PC.

The sequel to the 2009 real-time strategy video game will be available to the platform as well as the Xbox One. It is being developed by Creative Assembly and is slated for fall.
