"Grimm" season 6 will mark the end of the hit supernatural drama. NBC broke the news in social media, and the cast members were quick to thank fans for their support.

Bitsie Tulloch, who played Juliette and now Eve, tweeted that the cancellation of the series is bittersweet. "While we're sad to announce the 6th season will be our last, we're thrilled to be going out with a bang," the star said.

"I want to add that we're eternally grateful to all of our amazing fans who helped get us to 123 (!!) episodes of 'Grimm' and to Portland," she went on to say.

Cast member David Giuntoli, who played one of Portland's most excellent detective also took to social media to talk about "Grimm" season 6 and the cancellation.

"Will we go out with a group sob?? Probs. you have been the most splendid fans. See you in January. Love you all!" he wrote with a photo of the "Grimm" squad.

As for Sasha Roiz, who plays the villainous Renard, he said that he is "saddened" about seeing the show end after "Grimm" season 6, but is also "proud" of what they were able to make.

Reggie Lee, whose character Sergeant Wu just got a major character development in the previous season, said that he will miss the "wutastic family" while Jacqueline Toboni who plays Truble promised that "Grimm" season 6 will be "a helluva last season" and thanked fans for the support.

As for Claire Coffee aka Adalind, this is what she had to say on Instagram: "Well, if I have to end the ride of a lifetime with the most wonderful crew in the biz, it's good to know I'll be doing it with a bang."

The ending of "Grimm" was more of expected rather than surprising. Its cancellation was already foreshadowed when season 6 was only renewed for 13 episodes. The first four seasons had 22.

In the new season, Renard will take over the villainous duties following the fall of Black Claw. Now that he is mayor, he will not employ "his own brand of law and order," as per the synopsis.

Nic will do his best to stop him and to keep Adalind (Claire Coffee) and their child safe. Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) and Rosalee (Bree Turner) deal with the worry of bringing a child to this dangerous world, in the reign of Renard no less.

As for Eve, "Grimm" season 6 will see the assassin start to feel Juliette crawling back to her system. Then there's the issue of Diana (Hannah Lloyd) and her powers growing out of control.

"Grimm" season 6 premieres Friday, Jan. 6 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
