'Grimm' season 5 plot spoilers: Series creators reveal 'darker, different' show next season

Juliette (Bitsie Tulloch) died in the season 4 finale of "Grimm," and Nick (David Giuntoli) would be facing darker days in season 5.NBC

After Juliette Silverton's (Bitsie Tulloch) shocking death in the season 4 finale of "Grimm," the show's creators warned fans that their well-loved TV series will not be the same in season 5. Series showrunners David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf discussed the repercussions of killing an important character like Juliette and how it will affect Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli) in the future.

Viewers of the show were not expecting to see Juliette getting killed, even though she turned into a monster during the second half of the recently-concluded season. Nick planned to kill her to avenge his mother's death, but he could not do it to his beloved girlfriend despite her provocations. Ultimately, Nick's protégé Trubel (Jacqueline Toboni) walked in while the former lovestruck couple was fighting inside their home. With her crossbow, she fired two arrows directly at her and killed her.

But is she really dead?

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Greenwalt refused to confirm if the veterinarian-turned-Hexenbiest is really gone, but Kouf said that she is definitely out in season 5. Kouf also shared with TV Line that Tulloch will probably no longer appear in the next season of the show.

"I think it keeps everyone on edge. You don't know what's going to happen," Kouf said about Juliette's possible return.

"Anything could happen. It seems like a few shows, episode whatever, they get married or they finally get together. We decided to go a different way," Greenwalt added.

The series creators also mentioned that Juliette's death will change the trajectory of the show next season, and it will become even darker than expected because it will bring a different dynamic. Greenwalt also said that Nick will experience a lot of serious repercussions and he will have issues to deal with when the season returns, including his and Adalind's (Claire Coffee) soon-to-be born son, which he will be responsible for.

"Grimm" season 5 returns this fall on NBC.
