"Fast and Furious 8," the first of a trilogy set to wrap up the much-loved franchise, is already in development. With a release date set, fans move on to figuring out what the movie will be all about and who will be in it.

There are speculations that a slew of stars are bulking up the cast for the upcoming film. One of the stars said to join the franchise is Cody Walker, brother of the late Paul Walker, who was a lead star in the movie series before a car accident that led to his death.

Cody was the one who did Paul's remaining scenes for "Fast and Furious 7" but in "Fast and Furious 8," he is expected to be a full-fledged cast member playing the role of the little brother of Paul's character Brian O'Conner.

It is also being said that Academy Award winner Helen Mirren will also be joining the ensemble. This is after lead actor Vin Diesel, who plays Dominic Toretto in the films, joked in an interview with MTV about having his co-star in "The Last Witch Hunter" on board the upcoming "Fast" film.

Mirren apparently expressed her interest in playing a role in "Fast and Furious 8" and responding to this, Diesel teased the actress that her wish may end up coming true. "She is on the list. Be careful what you wish for, Helen," the actor quipped.

This also led to the speculation that Bollywood star Deepika Padukone, who is believed to be working with Diesel once again for the next "XXX" movie "Xander Cage Returns," will also be on board the next "Fast" movie. However, this is yet to be corroborated.

Previous speculations also hint that Eva Mendes will also reprise her role as U.S. Customs agent Monica Fuentes in "Fast and Furious 8." This also remains up in the air. The film is scheduled to hit the theaters on Apr. 14, 2017.
