'Fallout 4' PS4 mods release date: Mod compatibility coming before November

Bethesda Softworks

Mod compatiblity was meant to launch simultaneously for the Xbox One and PS4 but the latter was pulled out and delayed at the last moment. Pete Hines of Bethesda Softworks has spoken out via Twitter in regards to the issue and has assured fans that the PS4 mods will be released prior to the launch of "Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition."

The remaster of "Skyrim" is due to launch this coming Novermber and will be a PS4 and Xbox One update of the game with smoother graphics, mods compatibility and a consistent framerate. Hines was asked if the game would be delayed until Bethesda Softworks was able to work out any issues delaying the PS4 mods for "Fallout 4."

"No. 'Skyrim SE' won't be delayed. I expect any holdups to be resolved long before then," was all he stated. Hines did respond to other questions on Twitter and confirmed that his hands were tied by the company and that he was not in the position to make any announcements until Bethesda gave him and the others permission.

However, in one of his Twitter responses he does hint that the company is waiting for "others" to give them an update. It is speculated that this means Bethesda is working with a separate company to fix whatever issues are causing the delays for the PS4 mods. Many fans speculate this separate company to be none other than Sony.

It is possible that one of the major reasons why the PS4 mods are being delayed is because of the inevitable release of the more powerful PS4 Neo. Bethesda will need to make sure that their mods will work on the regular PS4 and still benefit from the improved hardware of the PS4 Neo, which is scheduled to launch by September or October.

Bethesda Softworks has yet to make an official statement regarding the matter.
