"Dragon Ball Super," the newest entry in the "Dragon Ball" franchise now that series creator Akira Toriyama is back on board, is officially premiering this July 5. This is according to a recent report from Anime News Network which also confirms that "Dragon Ball Z Kai" will officially end its run prior to the premiere of "Super."

July 5 is only for the Japanese release. However, a report from ComicBookMovie indicates that Hulu, Funimation, and Crunchyroll are the most likely candidates to dub the series and bring it to the U.S., with Funimation being the most likely. This is because Funimation already handled previous "Dragon Ball" properties including the upcoming "Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F'" movie.

The series will air on Fuji TV and will be the first time a new "Dragon Ball" series will air since "Dragon Ball GT" in 1996-1997. "GT" was not made with Toriyama's supervision and is not considered as part of the franchise's canon. "Super" will take over and is set to occur only a few years after the defeat of Majin Buu at the ending of "Dragon Ball Z."

It is also expected that "Super" will take place after "Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods" and "Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F'" since both films have been considered as part of the franchise's canon.

According to Anime News Network, the opening theme "Chōzetsu☆Dynamic" will be performed by Kazuya Yoshii while the ending theme, "Hello Hello Hello," will be done by the rock band Good Morning America.

Toyotaro will be handling the manga adaptation of the series which will appear in the V Jump magazine. Akira Toriyama, series creator, will handle writing duties for the manga and will serve as creative consultant and supervisor for the anime series.

No details have yet been released on the main plot of "Dragon Ball Super," but it is likely that it will feature new characters and even more transformations following the "Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan" form — complete with blue hair — featured in the new movie.
