"Dreamgirls" star Jennifer Hudson has really come a long way since her "American Idol" days, but the Academy Award-winning actress says she's still the same young girl who loves God and goes to church.

On her Instagram account (@iamjhud), the singer posted a photo collage. On the left side was a throwback photo of the singer when she was just a young girl. Hudson was wearing a white dress with a matching white hat. On the right side, a recent photo of Hudson was seen. She's decked in a stylish all-black outfit with matching, shoes, glasses, hat and bag.

"Train a child in the way they should go and they will never part ! I'm still the same girl," Hudson captions the photo as she references Proverbs 22:6.

This was not the first time Hudson discussed her faith in social media. Earlier, Hudson shared a photo collage then revealed the reason why she never worries in life. "God always [has] something greater in store! I know [because] I've seen Him work [too] many times not to be able to recognize it this time around! For those who don't believe, I just say [that] they will understand it better by and by! And God always got somebody when others just won't [do]."

Hudson has had her fair share of heartbreak and challenges in life. Back in October 2008, her mother Darnell Donerson, brother Jason Hudson, and nephew Julian King were all slain by William Balfour, who is now serving three consecutive life sentences. With God's help and her family's strong support system, Hudson was able to move past the tragic incident.

To honour her late nephew, Hudson started the Julian D. King Gift Foundation and in August donated school supplies to thousands of underprivileged kids in Chicago.
