Dallas Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee will go through the National Football League's (NFL) concussion protocol after suffering the injury in their loss to the New Orleans Saints last Sunday.

Lee left the game in the first quarter and never returned being replaced by rookie linebacker Damien Wilson.

According to ESPN, the 29-year-old was the leading tackler for the Cowboys entering the game against the Saints with 34 tackles.

Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett spoke about Lee's injury and in a report on their website said, "Sean seems good. He seemed good after the game last night, seemed good today. He'll go through the concussion protocol this week."

Meanwhile, Cowboys chief operating officer Stephen Jones expressed in a radio interview his confidence in Lee playing this coming Sunday against the defending Super Bowl champions New England Patriots.

"He'll go through all the protocol and hopefully the severity is not significant here and pretty confident here he can go through all the steps and hopefully be ready to go against the Patriots," Jones stated.

Lee is a huge part of the Cowboys' defense and they will be needing him against the Patriots who have been dominating all their opponents in their past three games this 2015 season to remain unbeaten.

According to FOX Sports, the last time Lee suffered a concussion was December of 2010, but he was able to play in the next game after getting injured.

Unfortunately, Lee was not the only one injured against New Orleans as running back Lance Dunbar tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and medial collateral ligament (MCL), which will keep him out for the remainder of the 2015 season.

The injuries are tough blows for the Cowboys who are still missing quarterback Tony Romo and wide receiver Dez Bryant to injuries.

After winning their first two games, Dallas went downhill dropping their next two and are aiming to bounce back against the Patriots despite having an injury-laden roster.
