'Captain America: Civil War' plot spoilers: Spider-Man to fight an Avenger

Captain America vs Spider-Man Marvel Comics

Actor Tom Holland recently joined the production for "Captain America: Civil War" in Germany to shoot scenes as Peter Parker aka Spider-Man. According to a report from Heroic Hollywood, Spider-Man isn't just going to appear in a random action sequence but will be fighting none other than Steve Rogers aka Captain America (Chris Evans).

The report does not cite any specifics, so it is unclear at the moment why the two are fighting. According to a report from Cinema Blend, Sebastian Stan, Chadwick Boseman, Anthony Mackie and other key actors are also in Berlin shooting their scenes so it may be possible that Spider-Man's inclusion is a small part in a bigger fight.

However, in the "Civil War" comic books, Spider-Man initially sides with Tony Stark aka Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) before he learns about the secrets of the Superhero Registration Act that Iron Man supports. He then switches sides and becomes an ally to Captain America for the remainder of the Marvel Civil War event.

Holland's inclusion may be specifically to shoot scenes where Spider-Man's mask is off. It is highly speculated that prior to Marvel hiring Holland for the role, action sequences involving Spider-Man may have already begun filming with the use of a stunt double so the character's involvement may be bigger than previously believed.

It is also unspecified what costume Spider-Man will be wearing during his fight with Captain America. In the comic books, Iron Man designs a mechanical suit for Spider-Man although, in the context of the film adaptation, a report stated Holland will first wear a "homemade" costume before wearing the iconic red and blue costume which may be a gift from Iron Man.

"Captain America: Civil War" opens in theaters on May 6, 2016 while the solo "Spider-Man" film will be released on July 28, 2017.
