A new trailer for the Sherlock season 3 has been released by BBC today.

The new clip, which was released as part of a new BBC One trailer featuring several dramas, shows just three seconds of the upcoming Sherlock series, which sees the detective falling off the top of St. Bart's Hospital. He says to John Watson, "The thrill of the chase, the blood pumping through your veins...just the two of us against the rest of the world."

The highly anticipated third season has finally finished filming today. Producer Sue Vertue tweeted a photo of the season's final clapboard.

"It's a wrap for season 3," Vertue wrote.

The official air date rumors for Sherlock season 3 have yet to be revealed but rumors have been swirling that the popular series will debut after a two-year hiatus on January 1, 2013.

This date has been rumored after a tweet by Blogtor Who wrote: "Sherlock Series 3 Ep 1 is set in November and will air on Jan 1, 2014."

The series was previously rumored to premiere earlier – October 2013 – when it was listed on IMDB. However, Sue Vertue, debunked the date, saying that it is just a 'place-holder' and not confirmed. She also did not deny any air dates that have been rumored.

The season 2 finale of the series ended with Sherlock Holmes presumed dead, and the new title leaves fans wondering what happens to the detective. Episode 1 of Sherlock will be titled "The Empty Hearse."

"Sherlock" is a British television crime drama with a contemporary update to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes detective stories. The show was created by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, and stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman as Doctor John Watson. Six episodes have been produced so far. The first three episodes aired in 2010, and series 2 aired in 2012. Production for series 3 started in March 2013.
