HTC Desire 626 released: specs and price to rival Moto G?

While there are still three weeks remaining for the Taiwanese smartphone maker to unveil its flagship offerings at the 2015 Mobile World Congress alongside Samsung, the tech firm has announced a lesser performing smartphone that will be catering to the lower tier smartphone markets. The smartphone has been named the Desire 626 and it features a Qualcomm's Snapdragon 410 chipset with quad-core processors coupled with 1 GB of RAM.

The device will be going head to head with the Moto G (2014 version). While the price of the Desire 626 has not been detailed, it can be assumed that it will be similar to that of the Moto G in order to gain a competitive advantage in the market.

The Desire 626 also features a 5 inch 720p display. HTC's mid-ranged offering also possesses a 13 megapixel rear camera while the front side of the chassis features a 5 megapixel shooter. The surprising thing about the smartphone is that even though it is targeted to the lower tier category of smartphones, is still packs an LTE modem for high mobile carrier speeds.

However, one of the less attractive features of the device is that it comes with a modicum battery pack of 2,000 mAh. Similar to HTC's upcoming flagship devices, the Desire 626 will also feature another variant carrying the same name that will carry a MediaTek chipset. The remainder of the specifications assimilated to both devices will remain the same. Another difference separating both devices will be that each variant will be targeted to different regions. The Desire 626 that is incorporated with the Snapdragon 410 chipset will most likely be targeted to the regions of U.S. and Europe while the device that is carrying the MediaTek chipset will be targeted to China.

HTC has not yet commented on when its mid-ranged devices will be available to purchase but it does not look like the smartphones will be released anywhere near the time the company is gearing up to release its highly anticipated smartphones of the year at the MWC 2015.
