Yorkshire radio offers Easter Passion in Hindi

Yorkshire's Hindi speakers will have the chance to hear about Jesus Christ's death and and resurrection in their own language this Easter.

The Bradford-based media charity HCJB Global has partnered with Radio Worldwide, a part of WEC, to produce the slot for Sunrise Radio 103.2FM.

An audience of up to 175,000 people across West Yorkshire will be able to hear readings, Easter-themed interviews and vox pops in Hindi and English.

The slot is being created after the success of a Christmas programme made by HCJB and Radio Worldwide in Urdu for the same station.

The Easter show airs just after 19:00 on Maundy Thursday and features interviews with Bishop Michael Nazir-Ali and Canon Yaqub Masih.

"We are delighted to be able to pair up our award-winning UK radio team Whistling Frog Productions, with our friends at Radio Worldwide to make this piece for Hindi listeners," said Colin Lowther, the charity's Chief Executive.

"Our hope is that people will get a chance to hear for themselves, in their own language, about what happened to Jesus 2,000 years ago. It's not just about learning how the Christian faith began, but the difference it is making to people right now."
