Xiaomi has come a long way and while many are still figuring out on whether the Xiaomi Mi4 was able to improve on the previous Mi3, the attention is now shifting to the upcoming Mi5 which is still under wraps.
Despite being previously unknown, Xiaomi has become an active brand in the smartphone segment. A lot of the devices they have offered fall under the Mi brand and now people await what the Mi5 could potentially offer to consumers.
One thing that is for sure, the Mi5 will come packed with upgrades from the Mi4. Among them could include a 64-Bit Snapdragon 810 processor backed by 3GB of RAM.
Aside from the processor, here are some of the other rumored features that the Xiaomi Mi5 could coe out with:
- 5.5-inch IPS LCD display
- ISOCELL powered 20.7 MP camera
- USB 3.0 OTG
- 4GB of RAM (available in 16, 32 and 64 GB variants)
- Water resistant
- External Phone Coolers
What makes Xiaomi a hit with consumers is the fact that it comes at a much lower price with decent specs. But one concern could be availability considering how hard some folks have found when it comes to getting hold of a unit.
Though not as aggressive like leading brands, critics feel that their marketing strategy has so far been working despite being a relatively new player in the smartphone segment.
As far as the release date is concerned, there is no official word on the actual date on when it would hit the market in 2015. There were rumors that it should be out this March while others speculate that it could come out in select regions by June or July of this year.
Regardless, the next question many would be asking is the ease of availability. While it is a fact that Xiaomi has been so far focused on Asian regions, getting hold of one has become hard. Would this hold true once the Mi5 actually hits the market?
