Rumors are rife that Xiaomi is about to unveil the successor of the ultra-bezel-less Mi MIX 2 smartphone in the coming months. The Mi MIX 2S is expected as one of the Chinese handset maker's premium handsets of 2018, and per the latest benchmark listing from AnTuTu, the device is revealed to boast Qualcomm's high-end mobile processor, the Snapdragon 845.

According to the latest reports, the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S has been recently spotted at the AnTuTu benchmarking result. My Drivers was the first to see the benchmark listing for Mi MIX 2S, which claims that the handset will run the Snapdragon 845 system on chip (SoC). This implies that the Mi MIX 2S will feature a significant boost in performance and power efficiency over the 2017 flagship phones, which are powered by the Snapdragon 835 chipset. To note, the supposed Mi MIX 2S was named "Polaris" in the AnTuTu listing, having a high score of 270,461 based on its hardware specs.

Xiaomi will be among the tech giants expected to attend Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 later this February. Contrary to earlier reports, the company is not likely to launch its flagship Mi 7 smartphone during the tech expo. Instead, Xiaomi is going to present the Mi MIX 2S, rivaling the other premium devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Sony Xperia XZ2 Pro, NDTV reported.

Judging by the name of the handset, the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S is not expected to have significant changes in design and features over the original Mi MIX 2. However, the Snapdragon 845 is considered as a huge upgrade for the device. Xiaomi and Qualcomm already confirmed their partnership earlier this year, which gives credence to the report that the Mi MIX 2S will be among the first smartphones to pack with the Snapdragon 845 chip this year. Earlier, it was believed that the Mi 7 would become the first handset from Xiaomi to include the said processor, but with its absence from the MWC 2018, the Mi MIX 2S is going to take its spot.
