Liberty Counsel President Anita Staver no longer feels safe using a public restroom, and this is why she has decided to arm herself every time she visits such a bathroom.

Liberty Counsel is a legal organisation in the U.S. that specialises in evangelical Christian litigation

"I'm taking a Glock .45 to the ladies room. It identifies as my bodyguard. #BoycottTarget," she tweets on her account (@AnitaStaver).

Staver made the tweet after retail giant Target announced that it will now allow people to use bathrooms of their choice regardless of their biological gender.

"In our stores, we demonstrate our commitment to an inclusive experience in many ways," Target says on its website. "Most relevant for the conversations currently under way, we welcome transgender team members and guests to use the restroom or fitting room facility that corresponds with their gender identity."

Someone called Staver on her comment, saying that she is simply overreacting. "When has a trans person ever attacked someone in the bathroom??" the person asked.

But Staver clarifies that she is "not afraid of them. I want protection from the perverts who will use the law to gain access to women."

The negative comments kept on coming even after that. "Lawyers aren't supposed to go around threatening to kill people," someone wrote. But Staver answered back, "Don't be crazy—bodyguards and guns are for protection, not aggression."

Another person commented that Staver has "problem with paranoia" and suggested that she go visit a therapist, while others believe she is a "bigoted idiot" who has simply "gone nuts."

"You need psychological help, lady. No really. You're [expletive] crazy. And from your statement, a potential murderer," one commenter said.

It was difficult to find a comment of support for Staver, because the commenters mostly fumed at her idea of protection. She was even accused of not being a true Christian because of the "hatred" in her heart.
