Why are Christian women reading porn? Jim Daly believes what they are really looking for is fulfilment

Many Christian women consider Fifty Shades of Grey as their favorite book.

Christian women are reading porn and evangelist Jim Daly is worried about it.

Specifically, Christian women are reading Fifty Shades of Grey, and a startling number have even admitted that it was their favourite book of the year, according to one Christian publisher's survey.

Daly says this is "noteworthy" because the Fifty Shades of Grey books, which are written by EL James, are a form of pornography which makes abuse and degredation seem like they are acceptable components of a relationship.

A lot of people have already fallen in love with the books despite its content, and it has sold more than 100 million copies in just a few years.

But Daly reasoned that people who love the books are not actually after the sex, but rather crave fulfilment. He believes Christian women need to be "rescued" from their wrong notions about love and intimacy.

"The truth is, underneath the use of pornography and carrying out the harmful sex practices promoted by Fifty Shades, are valid human emotions and needs longing to be met," he explained.

Daly added that both men and women need to discover a healthy and holy fulfillment for their God-given desires.

"I'm reminded of the woman in Scripture who was judged by others and so full of shame she went to the well alone in the heat of the day to draw water. And who shows up, but Jesus. He extended her grace, broke through all the lies she told herself, and rescued her heart," he said.

Daly said it's important not to judge people who are swept away by romance and erotica, but instead make them feel that their pain and confusion are understood. "It isn't about judgment or heaping shame on anyone. It's about helping those who feel trapped break away from the false intimacies that are leading them down a dangerous path," he said.
