Why there is something wrong with you and there's nothing you can do about it

One of the most popular beliefs prevalent today is that there is nothing wrong with us and that we're fine just the way we are, but the Bible tells us that we are far from fine.

The biggest lie we have ever told others and ourselves is that we're okay and fine, and there's nothing wrong with what we do. But the Bible tells us that we are far from okay. In fact, it's clear that we are doomed and broken because of one thing and one thing only -- sin.

We're all sinners. We're prideful, immoral, hateful, selfish and at the very core -- we're ungodly. I don't intend to slam anyone with insensitivity because the only reason I realized this is because I looked at myself and saw all those things. I am a sinner, and the worst kind.

Everyone has sinned

Romans 3:23 tells us, "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." No one is perfect. All throughout history and all across the world, everyone will fall short at one point. Whether you're a liar, a thief, a murderer, a person who litters or a person who curses, we've all fallen short of the only standard that exists and that is the standard of God.

All can be redeemed

It doesn't matter what you've done before or how you view yourself today. God can still take hold of your future and make it bright and beautiful. Countless people believe that it is too late for God to redeem them and that there's no way we can earn the love and favor of God.

As true as it is that we will never deserve it, we have all the right to gain access to it because of the sacrifice of Jesus. Romans 6:23 says, "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

We cannot redeem ourselves

No amount of good works, practice, Bible reading or church going can save us. We are far beyond saving by our own hands because our sin is greater than us. However, God's grace is ever sufficient to bring salvation, reconciliation and redemption.

In fact, it is only by His grace that we are saved and we are enabled to live life from this point on onwards. All life was meant to be entrusted to God in faith knowing that apart from Him we are nothing.

We are wrong to think that sin is powerless. It is because of our sin that there is death, pain, curses and destruction. Sin is powerful, but God's love is immeasurably more powerful and dwarfs the power of sin. And it is only through that love and grace of God displayed through Jesus that we can have a life free from the power and clutches of sin.
